OUR 10th REUNION
June, 1972
This was our first major reunion and the first one I tried to organize. My wife at the time (Alice) and I drove all the way from California to attend. The weather didn’t cooperate: A tropical storm of near-hurricane proportions named Agnes swept up the east coast and dumped torrential rains on New York all weekend. The rain kept our attendance down and restricted those who did attend to indoor activities; the traditional alumni-vs.-faculty softball game was replaced by a volleyball game in the gym.
Despite the adverse conditions, we had a decent turnout from the class: Bill and Joan Anthony, John and Jerilyn Castellani; Joe and Laurie Coffee; Howdy Davis; Denny and Joan Hopper; Scott and Nancy Leake; Anson Perina; Frank and Ellie Rosenberg; Carl and Francie Sharpe; plus me and Alice. John Joline, Don Beaver, Ron Emery, Horton Durfee, Des McCracken, and Walt Lehman were also there.
I was apparently too busy enjoying the reunion to take many pictures, and didn’t even get photos of most of the people who were there. And the ones I have were taken with flash inside the dimly-lit Dairy barn, so the quality is not great. If anyone else who attended has any decent photos of the occasion, I invite you to share them.
At Friday night dinner in the Dairy barn, clockwise from far left: Frank Rosenberg, Alice Groth (mostly hidden), Des McCracken (in dark, in background), Nancy and Scott Leake, Ellie Rosenberg, Joan and Denny Hopper, Laurie and Joe Coffee (backs to camera).
Scott and Nancy had just moved back to Vermont from Alaska, where Scott had been stationed while in the army. When he first saw me, Scott didn’t recognize me; I had a beard and long hair, and I was about six inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than I had been at graduation, ten years earlier.
Indoor activities were the order of the day. Frank, John Joline and two others (who they were I can’t recall) played a lot of bridge.
Ron Emery, Des McCracken and Howdy Davis relax in the student lounge in the Dairy Barn.

Here are some photos of those of us who were there, but not captured on film at the time!
